Why Did I Become a VA?

Good question. I spent over 25 years, 20 of these as an EA, in Corporate Australia. I finally realised that I didn’t want to climb the corporate ladder. At my age I didn’t want to be the EA to the Corporate CEO, basically being on call 24/7.
I may be a bit selfish, but I enjoy my weekends and downtime too much.
Being a VA gives me the flexibility to do a role that I really enjoy (yes I enjoy doing admin work. I haven’t met a spreadsheet I didn’t like) while still maintaining a work / life balance working from home full time. I can work from anywhere and have moved states while still supporting my client. I don’t have to wait for the weekend to do the things I enjoy doing.
I don’t think the question is Why Did I Become a VA but why DIDN’T I do it earlier.
